Just got back from staying at this hotel for the second year in a row. Personally, I think it’s a great location because it’s a little out of the hustle of downtown, and it’s RIGHT next to the subway so everything is easily accessible. It may not be the fanciest hotel around, but you get what you pay for, and in New York City I think this hotel has the most bang for your buck. Parking is a 3-5 min walk away, however the price is very fair! The staff at the desk were welcoming and helpful. Room was clean. (This year I stayed in a premier business class king room and it was perfect!) I will definitely stay here again.
NO HOT WATER. The desk said they would look into it but second night still no hot water in room. Other then that hotel is nice, a little run down like most affordable nyc hotels but clean and comfortable rooms. No coffee in room or lobby. Parking is hard to find or pay to park over night but that's most of NYC too.
Bad experience, or I'd have rated it higher. I was hoping for a very inexpensive hotel in just the right location. Their pre-paid rate was great. Sure, I know that an inexpensive hotel in NYC isn't the same as an inexpensive hotel in, say, Spencer, Indiana. So while I was there, I adjusted my expectations accordingly. For example, a cheap hotel in Indiana would have a place to set up a computer (with a plug) curtains on the windows, a toilet that doesn't have to have the handle jiggled, etc. But I wasn't surprised that such things were missing at this hotel. And I am fully aware of the stereotypical NYC attitude. But... I was charged twice...at a higher rate...and the Manager either never came in, or told people to say she's out. I could never find a time when she was around, and she never called back, though the desk attendants said they'd leave a message. Terrible. I had to call my credit card company to dispute the charge. I should never, ever have to do that. You can screw up, and if you make it right, I'm a very forgiving guy. But if you don't make it right...well, that's why I'm writing this.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I'm giving them one stars because they did have a roof and four walls. Besides that, it is pretty bad. I highly recommend finding a better hotel. The majority of the hotel hasn't been updated and is original. I even checked out their "updated" Premier Club Business Room and turned out down. It was simply a room with a slightly updated but still warn out bed and damaged desk. There blinds were updated. None of the rooms that I viewed actually had the drapes or valances. The windows are filthy (see pictures). We booked a double and a queen room, so we got the full picture. The room smells like mold. The bathroom has mold growing on the ceiling and smelled of body odor upon arrival. The doors stuck closed and were difficult to open. Carpets look original. There's nothing charming about this hotel. The hallways smell of trash because the garbage chute in the hallway is stuck open. We highly recommend that you look elsewhere.
Old style hotel in a busy neighbourhood, big clean room, comfy bed, coffee maker and tv,with multiple channels I might add, close to the subway and grocery shops. Helpful staff, lots of charging points ans a big bathroom, not a lot to complain about, except for the handbasin tap had no hot water, and the shower had no cold water. Other than that,I really enjoyed myself there.
