  I'm compelled to write a positive review as all others are very negative. I've been coming here for 5 years and cant say I've had a really bad experience, and today was no exception. I dropped a large package off and was help by the women in window 2, not the friendliest experience, but I don't come here to make friends. There was a bit of a wait (it's the holidays), but the line steadily moved. There was an issue with the drop envelope box (full) which meant everyone had to give the mail to someone in window 7 but no one seemed to work that window regularly, but eventually got their mail dropped. I generally avoid the post office (equating it to going to the dentist) but can honestly not complain about my experiences.

  I saw a customer trying to help pick up letters from the floor that fell out from the overstuffed mail drop. As he gathered the letters and tried to hand them to a postal worker he was yelled at to "get in line!" I usually avoid the self-service kiosk too because the drop off bins are always filled so you have to wait in line again to drop them off at the counter (they'll yell at you if you try to walk up to tell them the bin is full). I have no idea how packages actually get mailed out from this location, it seems pretty dysfunctional.

  If I could leave negative stars I would....... This is the absolute worst Post Office I have ever been to. The employees are not just plan rude. They are unfriendly, unwilling to help and have horrible customer service. The self service kiosks do not accept credit cards which is problematic for a small business owner and the kiosk scales are usually broken (scales are never calibrated right, I can only imagine how many people are getting ripped off). I informed staff three times about the scales and got the response that people leave their babies on the scales which is why they break. I guess a 10lbs baby and a 10lbs box don't weigh the same 10lbs at the PO..... If I treated my customers the way I get treated when I go in to 83rd street I wouldn't have any customers left. The USPS seriously needs to check their values.

  There are two African American young women who work there during the midday hours who are absolute angels. They demonstrate wonderful customer service, courtesy, and a genuinely helpful demeanor, unlike what many of us have experienced at other USPS locations. Manager, please take note of these ladies! Wish I knew their names. (And yes, avoid Steve if you're here!)

  The most terrible post office at the UWS - people who work there can give you an attitude but they are not ready to help. Very rude, insolent and arrogant. They allow themselves to blame visitors for lying and absolutely don’t care about the quality of service. Also the gentleman at the window 6 (12/13, 12:30 pm) with raised tones chastised me that if I came to the United States I must respect the culture. US is a country of immigrants! And you have no moral right to discriminate me and consider yourself above other people, indicating that I speak with an accent or in any other way indicate that I was not born and grew up here. I asked for help and got rude. Such a big shame!
