  Helpful staff. Tiny rooms, spare, but clean. Wifi intermittent, but free. Small, old, bit clean towels. Flat pillows. Squishy but comfortable bed )if you don't have back problems). Breakfast could be way better, yogurt and granola and coffee were good, but when they ran out of stale pastries on day 2 of our 6 day stay, they should have ordered more. Giving it four stars because for the insanely cheap price for a hotel in Manhattan on the Lexington Avenue line, even with the above taken into account, it's a perfectly fine place to sleep at night, and the staff were helpful as they could be.

  The Franklin Hotel is a hidden gem. (The scaffolds because of construction in the building next door rather hide it.) The hotel is rich in history - check out the old fashioned elevator - and is located in a "safer" section of the city. It is surrounded by quaint eateries as well as "chain establishments" like Starbucks and CVS. The hotel s a few easy blocks to Central Park. It offers a healthy "European" breakfast (at no additional charge). The room would be small if it were in Texas but it's just fine in the middle of Manhattan! The front office and all employees are exceptionally courteous and pleasant. There is a little consignment shop across the street. Be sure to stop in! The owner and her offerings are amazing! (Unfortunately I can't remember it's name)

  My wife and I did NOT stay at the hotel. We popped into the lobby bar for a drink and were very impressed. The bartender was incredible. He gave us GREAT service and talked about the history in the city. He made me an incredible Old Fashioned. I would highly recommend.

  Lovely, old fashioned hotel. Very nicely kept, clean and neat. The entire staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very small though, and was a tight fit for two adults with two small suitcases. I wonder if our room was usually reserved as a single since the amenities were clearly for one (1 wash cloth, 1 face towel, 2 bath, 1 water glass.) We went down stairs for another glass, but made do with the towels.The sink was located in the main room (tub with shower and toilet in separate room) which was convenient, but the lighting was poor and the sink had no stopper, so my husband couldn't shave. The mattress was excellent, but the window unit air conditioner was extremely noisy. The included breakfast consisted of coffee (good), flavored yogurt singles, cornflakes, a large bowl of plain yogurt, bread and tiny croissants (impossibly dry.) There was no granola, jam or butter, which was very odd. (We were told their order didn't come in , but that didn't help us.) I would recommend this hotel because it is in a great location, is clean, reasonably priced (for NYC), and is nicely decorated, but I would make sure I got a larger room. Oh, but that air conditioner!

  I really like how rustic the hotel was, especially the elevator. The room was acceptable, although the bedhead was a bit dirty as well as finding trash outside of the window. There was a can of cat food out there so leaving the window open was not an option. Otherwise, with the age of the hotel in mind the experience was great. Bedding was really comfortable. The ac didnt seem to adjust to my desire setting but I was fine w shutting it off.
